Renewal and modernization of dry electrostatic precipitators through innovation
Dry electrostatic precipitators play an important role in the copper smelting process, as auxiliary equipment that reduces harmful emissions. The modernization of these facilities is part of the efforts of “Aurubis Bulgaria” to improve environmental performance and optimize production capacity. The goal is to increase the production of electrolytic copper by 50%, without interrupting current production.
In the implementation of this difficult and key task, “Aurubis Bulgaria” turned to “Ircon Ltd. and partners”. We were nominated for Lead Local Engineer – Civil & Structural (soil strengthening, strengthening foundation system and upgrade of steel supporting structure), Bulgarian Process Engineer and Electrical Engineer. For the upgrade of the two electrostatic precipitators, with a total mass of 900 tons, it was necessary to implement a solution that allows strengthening the foundation structure without stopping production and a modular approach was used in the design of the steel parts. This ensured shortened terms for the implementation of the concrete foundation and significantly shortened the erection time. As a result of the innovative approach, the modernization of the facilities and the strengthening of the existing part of the structures was carried out in a record short time.
With this investment, Aurubis Bulgaria continues to fulfill its commitments to sustainable development and improvement of environmental standards in the copper mining industry, and we at Ircon & Partners are happy and proud that they are turning to us for their key projects.
